“This report details best practices and recommendations from many of the BUILD sites on the cultivation of successful cross-sector partnerships in public health. The findings are particularly relevant for community leaders interested in developing community-centered approaches to improving population health as well as for funders interested in cultivating this type of work that is partner driven. Through the first cohort of BUILD awardees, we brought together leaders from the community, health care and delivery, and government. Over the course of the past two years, this group of 18 has done tremendous work on two fronts: the first, is the direct improvement of their target communities’ population health and wellness using bold, upstream interventions; the second, is bridging the gap between sectors as we strive to create a healthier, more vibrant communities in America. Readers of “Keys to Collaboration” will also get an inside look at the BUILD experience as revealed by the sites themselves through several behind-the-scenes stories, quotes, and tips, included in the report. These lessons were specially crafted so that they could be adapted to fit readers’ own local circumstances and challenges, and ultimately help others develop and maintain partnerships that improve public health.”
